So I love the Killers – as I've told you. Brandon Flowers is such a showman and I love the way he gets lost in his own songs. Sappy, I know. I'm a total sap. So I've been bugging my sis – the one who's always going to shows – asking if the Killers were coming back to the US on tour. Last Friday she sends an email. They're coming back. Tickets were on presale the next day but – and it was a big but – you had to be in their fan club to get presale tickets.

Umm... I think the last time I was in a fan club was like Ralph Macchio's fan club in 1984. (Paint the house, Danielson.) And I probably wasn't even a legit member because I'm so friggin' disorganized that I'm sure I never sent in my babysitting money for dues.

Anyway, needless to say, I now have Killers tickets and I'm an official member of the Killers fan club.

Fairfax hush on projections

SCONES with jam and cream were offered after Fairfax Media's annual meeting yesterday but the board was less willing to serve up specific earnings guidance.

Fairfax chief executive David Kirk said trading in the four months to October had been "strong" with like-for-like revenue growth in the "mid single digits". "With the usual disruption of advertising markets caused by the federal election and the subsequent period of adjustment, we are not able to accurately predict the first-half revenue outlook," he said. Yesterday was Fairfax's first AGM since the $3 billion marriage of Fairfax and Rural Press and following the new company's $480 million splurge on radio stations. About 350 shareholders rolled up, with directors taken to task over the company's EPS performance and whether the dividend payout ratio would remain at its current 88 per cent level.

Obama's rapid response

Certainly, this is upsetting, but we have to learn to ignore internet-based smear ads, given that it is impossible (or will be) to determine their origin. If we can't shut down spammers, why on Earth would we expect to be able pin this on someone, let alone someone as powerful as Clinton? For all we know, this could be done by an Obama staffer to demonize Clinton, a sly McCain supporter, etc. Public discourse should only be on confirmable events - if we see paid advertisements displaying this sort of image, by all means, call it out as the dirty politics that it is!

Ne-Yo back behind the wheel By RICHARD L. ELDREDGE | Wednesday, February 27, 2008, 03:19 AM

Atlanta Grammy winner and alleged leadfoot Ne-Yo pulled up at Rick Ross' listening party in a convertible Bentley on Monday night — properly licensed, Buzz presumes.

Hornets contrive to lose at death

Sad to say but our style (to be polite) has been rumbled and they know how to play against us.Meet our muscular style head on with their biggest defenders and then outplay our alleged midfielders. I believe Boothroyd has coaching abilities but thus far apart from seeing who can hit the floodlights the team seem unable to pass and keep possession. Incidentally welcome back Ken from Swanage (another longtime sufferer like me since 1946!). Roll on 50 points and see what happens then. .

Okemo Mountain Resort in Vermont, Mount Sunapee Resort, in New Hampshire, and Crested Butte Mountain Resort in Colorado. The Mueller's purchase of wind power saved the release of approximately 18,800 tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere an amount equivalent to emissions produced by the annual electricity consumption of approximately 2,200 average homes or the combustion of 1.9 million gallons of gasoline. "Protection of the environment is one of our core values. It is also very important to our guests," says Tim Mueller. Working toward that core value this year, Okemo is implementing some new practices and programs. Okemo has made a major investment in reducing the amount of energy used to make snow over the years. The most visual of those energy-conscious efforts is the resort's arsenal of HKD tower guns.
